(Acting Chief Technical Officer/Team Leader)

About the role
You will be a good fit for Heart if you are passionate about business! No more preparing returns 6-12 months after the fact. Instead, you prefer to dig into the numbers and provide insights for your clients.
This is a dual role (Acting Chief Technical Officer + Team Leader) which will develop into a single role as our business meets its growth milestones. Therefore you have the opportunity to get a deep understanding of both roles before determining which path you want to pursue.
You will report directly to the CEO, a Chartered Accountant with 15+ years experience running various businesses and who is ready to help you move your career to the next level.
The Team Leader is responsible for quality control, 100% on-time delivery and mentoring and upskilling their bookkeeping team. You will receive new client work via our Client Manager and will need to triage and delegate the work to the appropriate member of your team. You will also help to formulate Client Action Plans that our Client Manager will work to implement with our clients as part of our continual improvement culture.
You will be a Registered BAS Agent or be willing to complete this qualification as you will be reviewing and signing off on the work of your team. You will also review the client’s file before you submit to their accountant for year end preparation to ensure it meets our high standards.
Acting Chief Technical Officer:
As acting Chief Technical Officer you will be responsible for developing and implementing the quality control frameworks for all bookkeeping/accounting deliverables of the firm. This would involve conducting technical research, distilling this information into actionable work procedures, liaising with training partners and providing technical support to Team Leaders and our Payroll Specialist.
You will also be charged with planning and delivering team training and assessing and reporting on the technical skills of all team members in the organisation, including identifying areas that require development. This includes reviewing and modifying our Trainee Bookkeeper program to ensure it remains fit for purpose.
You will be required to work both autonomously and collaboratively on projects and will work with the CEO to ensure all projects align with the strategic direction and priorities of the organisation.

This role has been advertised as full-time but we could also accommodate a 4 day week, 9 day fortnight or shorter work days.
Skills and experience
Our non-negotiables include the following:
- A passion for business!
- 8+ years Accounting experience
- CA/CPA Accounting qualification (or working towards)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills. You must be able to communicate complex concepts in a way that makes sense to your team.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build respectful relationships with clients and colleagues.
- Hands-on experience with Xero and/or other cloud based accounting packages and confidence in quickly finding your way around new technology
- Achieve results in the 85 percentile or above of our Part/Non-Qualified Accountant Test
Salary is negotiable based on your qualifications and experience.
