Accountant (Team Leader)

We have a dedicated team of accountants and bookkeepers who work both in our modern Lismore CBD office and remotely at various locations around Australia and abroad, and we’re gearing up for another exciting period of growth, including branching out into new locations across Australia.
You will be a good fit for Heart if you are passionate about business, show drive and initiative and love digging into the numbers to gain insights for your clients.
About the role
As Team Leader you will be responsible for quality control and 100% on-time delivery within the firm and you will be tasked with the important role of mentoring and upskilling your team of dedicated bookkeepers. You will receive new client work via our Client Manager and will need to triage and delegate the work to the appropriate member of your team. You will also help to formulate Client Action Plans that our Client Manager will work to implement with our clients as part of our continual improvement culture.
You will be a Registered BAS Agent or be willing to complete this qualification as you will be reviewing and providing the final sign off on the work of your team. You will also liaise with your client’s accountant to ensure they are aware of the ongoing financial health of the client and how this may affect their year end tax position and other tax matters. Our accounting partners love the quality of our Xero files and it will be your responsibility to ensure your team are maintaining these very high standards.
You will be reporting directly to Heart Bookkeeping’s CEO, a Chartered Accountant with 15+ years of business and accounting experience and who is ready to help you take your career to the next level.
This role has been advertised as full-time but we could also accommodate a 4 day week, 9 day fortnight or shorter work days. Ideally we would like someone who is available to work in our Lismore office but this is negotiable.

Skills and experience
Our non-negotiables include the following:
- A passion for business!
- 5+ years Accounting experience (public practice experience would be advantageous)
- A relevant business or e-commerce degree. CA/CPA or working towards a big plus but not essential
- Strong written and verbal communication skills. You must be able to communicate complex concepts in a way that makes sense to your team.
- You must be strong on delivery. We value outcomes over hours.
- Hands-on experience with Xero or other cloud based accounting packages and confidence in quickly finding your way around new technology.
Salary is negotiable based on experience and position fit.
