Heart Bookkeeping exists to service small business owners who value our support, expertise and recommendations as they juggle the many aspects of running their own business. We have a specific focus on quality financial data, client education and cash flow management as we recognise many small business owner’s strengths are in their niche field and not necessarily in operational or financial management.

We currently have team members that work in a range of locations and capacities across the East Coast of Australia and in Cebu, Philippines. Our team is led by qualified accountants and supported by experienced bookkeepers.

About the Role

We’re looking for a dedicated professional who brings a sharp eye for detail, a proactive mindset, and a passion for tackling challenges with enthusiasm. They will also love systems and processes as much as we do, as this is how we make your life easier and deliver consistent results for our clients.

This position requires a minimum of 30 hours/4 days per week which must include Monday and Tuesday to help support our payroll function.

This role offers a pathway to grow technically and professionally and allows for future advancement if you have the desire and drive to do so. It would also suit an existing BAS Agent who wants to move from self-employed to being part of a supportive team.

The role will involve:

  • Xero bookkeeping and review
  • Payroll preparation and review
  • BAS/IAS preparation
  • Xero training and supporting clients via phone, email and in person
  • Rescue work
  • Other compliance work such as worker’s compensation, payroll tax, STP reporting and TPARs
  • Month end close including preparation of management reports for review by the Client Manager
  • You will report to the Team Leader who will assist you with your workflow management and technical development
  • You will also work with the Client Manager’s when new clients are assigned to you and to improve the bookkeeping processes of our clients
  • You will help to develop and support our emerging bookkeepers, who will in turn will do a lot of the processing work for you.

Because we are 100% cloud based, this role can be performed from anywhere in Australia. We currently have team working from offices in Lismore, NSW, Sunshine Coast, QLD and Hobart, TAS. Work from Home is an option for those that have successfully navigated this working environment before. Otherwise, we can organise you an office space near your home. We currently use WOTSO co-working spaces in QLD and TAS.

Some our roles can be performed remotely and we may allow employees to work from home where they have a productive and dedicated work space and excellent internet connection.

Generally all roles will start in the office environment (unless specific otherwise on our Job Advertisement) for training and culture development purposes but could then be transitioned to partly or fully WFH

Work from home employees are required to fund their own desk, chair and internet service. If you are partially WFH you will also need to provide your own screens at home, as Heart will provide your screens within the office. Heart will provide your laptop and headset in all working arrangements.

Our workforce is made up of team working in casual, part-time and full-time capacities which suit their lifestyles. Some of our team work shorter days or shorter weeks because it’s what works for their families.

If you’re available at least 3 days a week then we’re likely to have a role to suit you. Some of our more senior roles do require a minimum 4 day week so just check out the specifics of the job role for clarification before applying.
